Meeting Topic: Winter Workshop Madness
Other business or activities at the meeting:
In late 2019, we could host our traditional "winter workshop madness". Between 22nd Nov and 9th Dec, four workshops with top speakers were organized for our section members and interested students of our faculty:
- The series was opened at 9th Dec with an advanced C++ Audio Plugin-Workshop by Daniel Rudrich, creater of the Ambisonics IEM Plugin-Suite. The participants had the chance to create an own additive synthese VST-Plugin including a waveform visualizer.
- At 28th Nov, a basic Ambisonics 101 hands-on workshop was conducted by Tommi Deppisch and Felix Holzmüller in cooperation with the students union and the Klangwerkstatt Graz. After a short, non technical introduction to the Ambisonics theory, the participants could mix a song with open-source Plugins using binaural rendering as well as in a louspeaker hemisphere.
- Leon Merkeln and Valentin Hasebe held a Mixing Workshop at 5th Dec at our faculty's studio. In this especially for freshmen planed course, the basics of mixing using a fullsize mixer as well as "in the box" was explained.
- Last but not least, our first Audio for Games workshop by Christian Walter was conducted. Using the game engine Godot, the students were shown how to create simple games itself as well how to add sounds to it.
Thanks to all our speakers and the many participants! We are already planning for another edition next year!
