AES Meeting Minutes 2.20.14
Today we had a presentation on EQ and its applications using Chris' copy of "Killer Queen" by Queen. If you want specifics on the lesson, you should have been here!
Sunday Feb 23rd — Charles Neville will be giving a lecture and a performance at 4 PM in Dodds. We need to take the console, snake, etc because the theater has nothing useful. Chris will be there at 10:30 AM, so try to come between 11 and 12 to help out please.
Tuesday Feb 25th — AES presentation will be in the "City of York that is New" at the new Harman store. They are doing a presentation on headphone quality and other cool R&D stuff. We are looking to take a trip there with 10 students. There will be a Survey monkey link open at 6AM tomorrow morning to apply. We will leave from the West Haven Train Station at 3PM Tuesday, so please get transportation there. AES meeting is at 7 PM. The new President of AES and researcher for Harman might be meeting with us specifically for a Q and A after the meeting.
April — Chris' wife Heather is running a show at a Hamden Elementary school that needs sound help for two tech rehearsals and three live performances. Helpers would be welcome as a great learning experience/community service.
Meeting Location: University of New Haven - West Haven, CT, USA
In this meeting, we set up a drum mix and sent it out to a bunch of headphones, each one connected to a different 500-series EQ in our studio. We gave students the chance to really mess around with their sounds and see what each knob does. In addition to learning how to affect the sound, students tried their best to make a good kick drum sound with what they were given - quite the challenge.
